Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I receiving so many emails?
This Month of Giving is a time-focused appeal and we hope that you enjoy reading our emails. If you feel that you have read enough, you do have the option to unsubscribe at the bottom of each email. This will unsubscribe you from further emails during this Month of Giving, but not from other Churchill College communications.
Why is it one month?
We want alumni around the world to be part of this Month of Giving irrespective of their local time zone. By spanning one whole month, everybody has the opportunity to be involved. Rather than spanning 36 hours like past Giving Days, email communications will be spread out across 31 days throughout the month of March.
Will I be phoned?
Three postgraduate students have been employed by the College to telephone members of the alumni community during the Month of Giving. The number they will phone from will be 01223 482936, 01223 482937, or 01223 482938. Alumni who have been selected to receive a phone call will have been informed of this by email in February. Alumni who would prefer not to be called have the opportunity to opt out from a call using this form. Some calls will be monitored by the Development Officer to facilitate ongoing training and support, and the students will dial all numbers including those on the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) register because we anticipate that you will enjoyed reconnecting with the College in this way.
How can I get involved?
Please do share your feelings about supporting postgraduate students at Churchill College with your online networks by posting about our Month of Giving. Your post may encourage one of your contacts to get involved in supporting our Month of Giving too. Use the hashtag #ChuGives and spread the word.
Why was my donation not processed?
The EU Payments Services Directive (PSD2) introduced enhanced security requirements such as Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) to add extra layers of security to electronic payments. If you encounter any difficulties when trying to donate on this site, please do contact a member of the Development team, by emailing development@chu.cam.ac.uk or phoning +44 (0)1223 331660, and we will be happy to help you. It may be that we ask you to make your gift using an alternative method.
Can I give tax-efficiently from USA?
Yes, visit cantab.org/ChuGives25 for a dedicated Cambridge in America giving form. Please enter your chosen fund in the Gift Instructions field. Your gift will still count towards challenge totals and have the potential to unlock match funding. To help us with this, please forward your donation confirmation email to development@chu.cam.ac.uk.
Can I give tax-efficiently from Europe?
Yes, the Transnational Giving Europe online portal is available for donors in Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain and Switzerland. Please email development@chu.cam.ac.uk to let us know how much you have chosen to donate and which Fund you are supporting so that your gift can be counted towards challenge totals and have the potential to unlock match funding.
Can I direct my support to a different area of College?
Yes, we want you to be able to support the College in whichever way means the most to you. If there is a specific fund you would like your gift to be directed towards, please let us know and we will be happy to arrange this for you. If you would prefer the College to direct your donation to the area of greatest need, please choose "Unrestricted" when making your gift. This will direct your donation to the Think Forward Fund.
